Mother makes teddy bears from dead soldiers’ uniforms to help their families cope
Lisa Freeman lost her son Matthew Freeman to the war in Afghanistan. Mathew was a marine pilot who was killed in action only 9 days after he volunteered to go on a riskier mission. In honor of Matthew, brave mom Lisa launched project Matthew Bears and started sewing teddy bears made from the uniforms of fallen soldiers for their families and friends. She has been doing this for free since 2009 and believes these teddy bears will help the bereaved cope better with their tragedies.
